As for the subject matter of economics: yes -- we are on the same page.Roger Farmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05213844698773859392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979477022008569617.post-29629234050101909702015-08-01T23:28:32.337-07:002015-08-01T23:28:32.337-07:00Roger, I'm neither a mathematician, an economi...Roger, I'm neither a mathematician, an economist nor a scientist (I'm an engineer).

But I'm surprised that you don't think science isn't a better analogy than mathematics for the field of economics. After all science is the use of inductive logic and observation to create accurate approximate models of objective reality, whereas mathematics is purely axiomatic and deductive and doesn't necessarily have anything at all to do with objective reality.

Supposedly economics is trying to find true claims about objective reality, right? Just like science? ;^)Tom Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17654184190478330946noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979477022008569617.post-50899068401370989472015-07-29T07:11:52.016-07:002015-07-29T07:11:52.016-07:00What strikes me about the story of playing chess w...What strikes me about the story of playing chess with the devil is its strong similarity with the tatonnement process that Nick Rowe uses to explain the Woodford-Garcia slides. While it's a nice way of showing how economic research is done it seems doubtful as a theory for how inflation expectations come into existence.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07730077084140053327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979477022008569617.post-41517889191629306852015-07-28T12:07:43.824-07:002015-07-28T12:07:43.824-07:00Settle for Lipsey's second best theorem (hehe)...Settle for Lipsey's second best theorem (hehe)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12599006340469818689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4979477022008569617.post-32765426109395147892015-07-28T04:21:52.602-07:002015-07-28T04:21:52.602-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.addirigibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11360125231861135674noreply@blogger.com
